In a strategic move to energize the grassroots ahead of the 2027 general elections, Member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive, weekend convened a unifying “Meet and Greet” session with women ward leaders and their deputies drawn from all 32 wards across the three local government areas.

The event brought together both former PDP stalwarts and legacy APC women leaders, in what many described as a powerful show of political consolidation.

The meeting which was held in lively atmosphere marked by singing, dancing, and spirited interactions, offered an opportunity for deep bonding and face-to-face interactions between Rev. Waive and the women leaders.

The session emphasised the importance of unity, shared vision, and early mobilization for the re-election campaigns of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Rev. Waive himself come 2027.

In her passionate remarks, Ms. Laura Ogheneochuko Eghene, one of the vocal grassroots coordinators, moved a motion for a Vote of Confidence and endorsement of the three political figures. Her motion received overwhelming support, with a unanimous chorus of “ayes” echoing across the hall — a symbolic stamp of approval for the leadership styles and ongoing efforts of the endorsed leaders.

Hon. Waive, visibly moved by the unity and enthusiasm, thanked the women for their unwavering support and noted that the strength of any political movement lies in the dedication of its base. He emphasized that women form the backbone of voter mobilization and that their involvement at this early stage is a clear sign of victory to come.

Highlighting the impact of President Tinubu’s reforms and Governor Oborevwori’s infrastructural drive in Delta State, Hon. Waive noted that continuity in governance is critical to sustaining growth, development, and peace.

He assured the women that he remains committed to their empowerment and promised that more women would be mainstreamed into political participation and benefits across the constituency.

Participants lauded Rev. Waive’s inclusive leadership style and praised his efforts in bridging political divides between former PDP members and long-standing APC loyalists. The event, according to several attendees, was the first of its kind to bring such a wide spectrum of women leaders together under one united front in the U3 Federal Constituency.

As the drums of 2027 begin to beat faintly in the background, Rev. Waive’s early mobilization—anchored on unity, grassroots inclusion, and bridge-building—may well prove a decisive advantage in what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral season.
