A prominent youth leader and community advocate from Patani Local Government Area in Delta State, Comrade Ughere Daniel, has applauded the Delta State House of Assembly for the passage of the Community Security Corps Agency Bill, calling it a “bold and timely intervention” against rising insecurity in rural communities.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Ughere praised the legislative action as a critical step toward curbing rampant cases of kidnapping, violence, and deadly clashes between farmers and herders, particularly in the forests and remote areas of the state.

“Our women have faced unimaginable horrors in their farmlands, from murder to assault, while our youth have suffered attacks from herdsmen,” Ughere declared. “With the enactment of this bill, there will be effective policing in our communities and forests, putting an end to these atrocities.”

He commended Hon. Isaac Anwuzia, member representing Aniocha South, for sponsoring the bill and recognised the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, for his pivotal role in ensuring its passage. Ughere urged the Speaker to “use his close rapport with the governor to fast-track assent and full implementation.”

The aspiring lawmaker further urged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to waste no time in signing the bill into law, emphasizing the urgency of operationalizing community policing frameworks to protect lives and livelihoods.

“It is unacceptable that just recently, herdsmen invaded communities in Patani and others along the Bomadi/Ohoro road, resulting in tragic loss of lives and brutal injuries. It is time to act decisively to stop this violence,” Ughere concluded.

The Community Security Corps Agency Bill seeks to establish a structured and state-backed security outfit to complement existing law enforcement, particularly in rural and vulnerable regions.
