Rita Orugbo Honored with Chieftaincy Title in Udu Kingdom

Madam Rita Oghenejirowho Orugbo, the immediate past Woman Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ward ‘3’ in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, was conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Oghovwerere” of Udu Kingdom by HRM (Barr.) Patrick Delekpe, the Ovie of Udu Kingdom.

The event, marked by cultural displays and fanfare, saw Madam Orugbo beaming with gratitude and pride as she received the honor.

In her acceptance speech, she expressed profound appreciation to the Udu monarch for finding her deserving of the title.

She thanked her elder brother, Chief (Hon.) Oghene-aga Andrew Orugbo, the Chairman of the 5th Governing Council of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, for his significant role in ensuring she was granted the highly esteemed recognition.

“I am deeply grateful to His Royal Majesty for this honor, and to my elder brother, Chief Andrew Orugbo, whose unwavering support made this possible. May God bless him and all who joined me in celebrating this milestone,” she said, her voice filled with emotion.

Following the formal conferment, a grand reception was held at Ogbe-Udu Community, attracting guests from all walks of life. The celebration featured music, dance, and refreshments, with well-wishers pouring in to celebrate Madam Orugbo’s achievement.

The conferment of the Oghovwerere title underscores Madam Orugbo’s contributions to her community and her standing as a respected leader within Udu Kingdom.
