Response to Mr. Rex on Ibori-Suenu: A Call for Constructive Engagement in Political Discourse

RT. Hon. (Mrs) Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu

It is with a heavy heart that we address the unfortunate situation regarding the recent statements made by one Mr. Rex, who claims to be the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.

His resorting to derogatory language and unfounded accusations against our esteemed Federal House of Representative’s Member, Rt. Hon. (Mrs.) Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, is not merely disappointing; it reflects a troubling trend in our political discourse that prioritizes personal attacks over meaningful dialogue.
At the core of this issue is the clarification that Rt. Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the distinguished Member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, stands as a paragon of integrity and committed service.
Her numerous initiatives, ranging from economic empowerment programs to community development projects; highlight her unwavering dedication to her constituents. These achievements are a testament to her effective leadership, which should be celebrated rather than undermined by misguided attempts to misattribute responsibility or sow discord.
Mr. Rex’s decision to align Rt. Hon. Mrs. Ibori-Suenu with comments made by one Efe Edah, also known as Progress Gateway, is both misleading and damaging. It is imperative that if Mr. Rex has grievances related to individuals outside of our political sphere, these should be addressed directly and with a sense of decorum rather than through shadowy insinuations about a respected leader who consistently delivers for her people.
Furthermore, Mr. Rex’s boastful claim of over 50 years of media expertise should ideally translate to a higher standard of professionalism. Instead of launching an attack that distracts from pressing issues, a constructive approach would involve presenting substantiated achievements of his principal, Rt. Hon. Barr. Arthur Akpowhowo. Engaging with the public through facts and impactful narratives helps foster accountability, an essential aspect of democratic leadership.
It is regrettable that Mr. Rex’s rhetoric has strayed into the territory of personal insults. Terms like “mad dogs” are inappropriate for someone in a position of political responsibility and fail to promote constructive criticism or genuine engagement. Political dialogue should elevate us, not degrade our discourse.
In serving our communities, leadership is evaluated based on tangible results rather than mere rhetoric. Therefore, we invite Mr. Rex to share evidence of accomplishments and projects led by his principal (Arthur Akpowhowo) allowing for a fair assessment of his performance in the Ethiope East constituency. Such transparency is vital for repairing the trust and respect that should characterize our political landscape.
We stand firm in urging Mr. Rex to retract any inappropriate affiliations that wrongly link Progress Gateway’s statements with Rt. Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu. As she diligently focuses on her legislative responsibilities, we expect all parties to rise above baseless accusations and embrace constructive engagement.
The path forward must be paved with respect, decency, and integrity—hallmarks of true leadership. We are open to dialogue based on facts, achievements, and mutual respect. Political discourse that descends into insults impedes our communal progress and undermines the very fabric of our democracy.
In conclusion, we reaffirm our commitment to illuminating the impactful work of our leader, Rt. Hon. (Mrs.) Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, and will not tolerate any more unjust attempts to besmirch her reputation. The people of Ethiope Federal Constituency deserve thoughtful, issue-based political discourse that promotes unity and progress.
