NCSDC, FRSC to partner DESTMA on effective traffic management

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NCSDC and Federal Road Safety Corps,FRSC, have given their nods to partner with the Delta State Traffic Management Authority, DESTMA, on effective traffic management and compliance in the state.

They promise to partner with DESTMA by the two federal agencies was made when the Chairman, DESTMA, Chief Peter Idion, in company of the Director General, Hon Dr Benjamin Okiemute and other members of the board recently, paid familiariazation visits to the NCSDC and FRSC state commands headquarters in Asaba.

Chief Peter Idion speaking during the visits said that the aim of their coming was to familiarize and also, seek the support of the Commands to ensure total compliance on Delta roads by the users.

According to Chief Idion, “We are here to appeal to you in assisting us to execute the M.O.R.E Agenda of the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori , which is saving lives and driving safely in the state. He noted that safety on Delta roads is a priority to the governor.

He added, ” We have trained officers but, we will achieve greater and better results when we work in synergy.

Also, the DG, DESTMA, Hon. (Dr) Benjamin Okiemute, in his speech during the visits said that the agency is seriously working hard to sanitize all major roads in the state. He disclosed that the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborewori has approved plans to extend DESTMA activities from seven to the entire twenty-five local government areas in the state.

He noted that DESTMA is fully prepared to work, but seek, the assistance of NSCDC and FRSC on enforcement which according to him is a major challenge to them.

In their separate responses, the NSCDC, Delta State Commander, Mr Matthew Sunday Ovye and Corps Commander, Frederick A. Ogidan, Sector Commander RS5.2, Delta, promised to partner with DESTMA, particularly, in the areas of road decongestion and enforcement of traffic rules.

They commended the Delta State Governor,Rt Hon Sheriff Oborewori for paying priority attention to the issue of security, safety of lives in the state.

They congratulated the chairman and members of the new DESTMA board, and urged them to remain committed to efforts aimed at achieving full compliance on roads in the state.
