The Honourable Member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, warmly received the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Delta State Chapter, led by its vice Chairman, Dr. Akponana Mudiaga, during a courtesy visit that fostered a productive exchange of ideas.

During the meeting, Dr. Mudiaga commended Hon. Ibori-Suenu for her unwavering support for the medical profession, noting her selfless contributions through her NGO, Starlite Hopes Initiative. He highlighted that her efforts have not only saved countless lives but have also empowered young medical professionals to excel in their careers. He further expressed gratitude for her generosity, recalling her previous gesture of hosting the Association of Resident Doctors at her official residence.
Dr. Mudiaga also called for strengthened partnerships and supportive legislation to further advance the medical profession and the NMA’s objectives. He emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing healthcare challenges and promoting the welfare of medical practitioners.
In his remarks, Dr. Nyemike Awunor, Acting Chief Medical Director of Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara, expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Ibori-Suenu for her remarkable support. He acknowledged the provision of an ambulance, a 1500KVA generator, and other medical equipment facilitated through the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Dr. Awunor also sought her continued support toward infrastructural development and other critical needs of the hospital.
In her response, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu thanked the NMA delegation for their dedication to promoting quality healthcare and for their consistent support of her NGO’s initiatives. She reaffirmed her commitment to partnering with the NMA to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the welfare of medical professionals across Delta State.
In a major announcement, Hon. Ibori-Suenu unveiled plans for a comprehensive medical outreach program in Ethiope Federal Constituency, to be executed in collaboration with the NMA Delta State Chapter. The initiative aims to bring quality healthcare services directly to the people, particularly those in underserved communities.
The NMA delegation included Dr. Ekpekpe Moses (Treasurer, NMA Delta), Dr. Rukevwe Odukuye (Assistant General Secretary, NMA National), and Dr. Aghogho Isaac (Secretary, ARD DELSUTH). The meeting concluded with a group photograph, symbolizing a shared commitment to advancing healthcare in the region.
