Rt. Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, has emphasized the importance of unity among the Urhobo people, stating that genuine unity is crucial for the advancement and progress of the Urhobo Nation.

Ibori-Suenu who made this statement while addressing participants at the convention of the Urhobo Progress Union America (UPUA) Branch, held at Calgary, Alberta, urged members to set aside divisions and personal interests for the greater good.

In her address, Ibori-Suenu urged members of the Urhobo diaspora to transcend divisions and personal interests to foster a greater good. She underscored the significance of sincere and meaningful unity over superficial or pretentious alliances, stressing that this authentic unity is necessary for driving development and progress within the community.

She said; “At the Urhobo Progress Union America (UPUA) Convention in Calgary, Alberta, I stressed the importance of unity not the kind that is pretentious or superficial, but true unity. If we must advance as a people, then we must come together with sincerity of purpose, setting aside divisions and personal interests for the greater good of the Urhobo Nation”.she stated.

“The convention’s theme, “Embracing Change through Unity,” could not have been more fitting. Unity is not just a slogan; it is the foundation on which progress, development, and sustainability are built. Without genuine unity, the greatness of our nation cannot be fully realized”

She maintained that their role is indispensable for shaping the future of the Urhobo Nation. “To our brothers and sisters in the diaspora, the responsibility is immense. You have a vital role to play in shaping the future of the Urhobo Nation through advocacy, investment, mentorship, and by bridging the gap between home and abroad. Together, we can harness our collective strength to build a Urhobo Nation that truly reflects the greatness of its people”.
