A group, Citizens Rights and Integrity in Public Service (CRIPS), has thrown its full weight behind Senator Ned Nwoko’s efforts to actualize the long-standing demand for the creation of Anioma State, describing him as the most capable figure to drive the process to fruition.

In a statement issued by the group’s convener, Comrade Citizen N. Chima, CRIPS emphasized that while the agitation for Anioma State predates Nwoko, his leadership and influence have reinvigorated the movement, giving it renewed momentum and national appeal.

The statement reads in parts; “The Anioma State project is at the heart of our collective aspirations as a people with a shared destiny. While the pursuit of this goal did not begin with Senator Nwoko, it is undeniable that he has infused it with the energy, fervor, and strategic vision required to bring it to reality,”

The group highlighted the complexities of state creation in Nigeria’s political system, noting that the process demands extensive lobbying, strategic positioning, and alignment with key national stakeholders.

It argued that Nwoko’s national influence, political connections, and deep understanding of power dynamics uniquely position him as the most suitable person to lead the charge.

“State creation in Nigeria is not just about popularity or demand; it requires extensive lobbying, party patronage, and strategic positioning within the corridors of power. Senator Nwoko has demonstrated an unparalleled ability to navigate these complexities, engaging effectively with key decision-makers at the federal level,” Chima stated.

The statement also addressed speculations about Nwoko’s rumored move to the All Progressives Congress (APC), arguing that political affiliation should not overshadow the larger goal of Anioma State creation.

“For a journey to any great destination, the driver is more important than the vehicle. Whether he is in PDP or APC, what matters is his commitment to delivering Anioma State. The dream for Anioma predates any present political party, and it should not be sacrificed on the altar of partisan considerations,” it added.

CRIPS cited examples of politicians like former Governor David Umahi, who successfully transitioned between parties while still delivering impactful governance, urging Anioma people to focus on competence rather than political party labels.

“History has shown that effective leadership transcends party lines. What we need is a leader with the capacity to push our cause to the highest level, and Nwoko has proven he possesses that capability. It is better to align with the king than to follow a chief who takes orders from the king,” the group declared.

As the campaign for Anioma State intensifies, CRIPS called on all stakeholders in the region to unite behind Nwoko, emphasizing that the struggle should not be about personal ambitions or party loyalty but about securing a prosperous future for the Anioma people.

“Anioma State is not just a political goal; it is about our dignity, development, and rightful place in the Nigerian federation. Now is the time for unity and decisive action to ensure our dream becomes a reality,” the statement concluded.
