The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Ughelli North local government area, Dr. Duke Okoro, the Registrar, Chief Mrs. Christine Aluyi, and Success Ose Oghenechoja, yesterday paid a condolence visit to the family of late Pa E. K. Clark at his country home, Kiagbodo, Burutu local government area of Delta state.
In a condolence message to the bereaved family, Dr. Okoro conveyed the Polytechnic’s deep sense of loss and condoled with the family on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of the institution over the demise of a great leader and advocate of unity and justice, not only for the Niger Delta people but for Nigeria nation.
Okoro said the visit is to express the institution’s deep respect for the late elder statesman and his contributions towards the unity and development of Nigeria, saying that, “With a heavy heart, on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff, and Students of the Federal Polytechnic Orogun, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Pa E. K. Clark.
“He was a distinguished leader, a symbol of peace, and a relentless advocate for unity in the Niger Delta and Nigeria. His passing is an irreplaceable loss to his family, our institution, the Niger Delta, and the entire nation.”
The Rector further described Pa Clark as a towering figure who embodied wisdom, courage and an untiring commitment to peace and justice. He highlighted the significant impact the late elder statesman had on shaping the socio-political landscape of Nigeria.
“Pa Clark was more than a leader; he was a colossus who personified wisdom, courage, and commitment to justice and peace. He was a father to many, a pillar of strength, and an inspiration in times of uncertainty”.
In honour of his immense contributions, Dr. Okoro announced that the institution had named a building, the ‘E. K. Clark Students Centre,’ after the late icon. This, he noted, was a fitting tribute to a man whose legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
“His name will forever be etched in the annals of history, not just for his remarkable achievements, but for the lives he touched and the sacrifices he made for a better Nigeria. May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may his family find comfort in the legacy of greatness he leaves behind” he said.
The family of the late Pa Clark warmly received the Rector and his delegation, expressing gratitude for the visit and the institution’s solidarity during their time of grief, and the recognition of the late icon’s contributions.
They acknowledged the Polytechnic’s commitment to preserving Pa Clark’s legacy, particularly through the naming of the E. K. Clarke Students Centre, which stands as a demonstration of his lifelong dedication to the pursuit of justice, peace, and development.
The visit marked a significant moment of unity, the deep respect and admiration that Pa Clark commanded within and beyond the Niger Delta, as the Polytechnic community reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the values and ideals that Pa Clark championed during his lifetime. His legacy, the Rector assured, will remain evergreen and an inspiration for all.
