In response to recent discoveries of substandard projects during inspection tours by Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the CEO of Wilson Ejeben Foundation, Chief Wilson Ejeben, has issued a stern warning to contractors delivering poor-quality jobs in the state.
The renowned philanthropist emphasized the need for urgent action to ensure that projects funded by the Delta State Government meet the required standards. He announced plans to establish an organization named Integrity Youths to support the state government in monitoring ongoing projects. According to him, the group’s primary goal will be to prevent contractors from tarnishing the government’s reputation through substandard work.
Chief Ejeben urged the Delta State Commissioners for Works to collaborate with the proposed volunteer group by providing them with access to project specifications and bill of quantities at the time of award. This, he explained, would empower the Integrity Youths to effectively monitor the progress and quality of ongoing projects while offering timely feedback to the state government.
“Contractors cannot be allowed to spoil the reputation of the government by delivering shoddy jobs. The state has invested significantly in these projects, and we must ensure they stand the test of time,” Chief Ejeben stated.
He further called on all government appointees to support the initiative, stressing that the fight against substandard projects requires a collective effort. “The Commissioners must remain vigilant, and the Integrity Youths will work closely with them to ensure compliance with standards,” he added.
Chief Ejeben also appealed to residents of Delta State to join the movement by reporting any instances of substandard projects. “We urge Deltans to send photographs of such projects to the group, which will forward the reports to the state government for necessary action.”
He reiterated his commitment to building a Delta State where all awarded projects are durable and meet high-quality standards, assuring that the proposed group will be a game-changer in ensuring accountability and transparency in project execution across the state.
