Sanitation: Council Boss Shut Down East-West Road

The January Monthly Environmental sanitation in Ughelli North local government area, Delta State, took a new shift as the ever busy East-West road was shut down for almost two hours with absolute restrictions on vehicular movements along the Federal highway.

The routine exercise led by the Ughelli North Council Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo saw the Otovwodo junction of Ughelli East West road locked with forbidden vehicular movements as the Chief of Staff to the governor of the state, Hon. Johnson Erijoe and Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Dennis Emomotimi Guwor that were coming from Warri axis were locked down for almost thirty minutes before the road was opened for them.

Egbo stated that the restrictions and shut down of the East -West road was on order to enable those working and clearing dirty along the Otoveodo junction to comfortably carry out their cleaning.

He added that the East -West road was locked to ensure safety of workers and others in the course of thorough cleaning of drainages and evacuation of debris amassed in the area.

Egbo who frowned at violators said the conduct of the exercise was State wide and was given proper publicity stressing that the highway is part of Ughell North as such every other activities within the jurisdiction should wait till the exercise elapsed.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Guwor Emomotimi who ran into the exercise and was caught in the long traffic jam commended the Ughelli North Council Chairman Olorogun Jaro Egbo for the good work, said, Jaro Egbo is setting a new pace in the conduct of sanitation exercise in Delta State.
