Our Delta Central Diabetes Sensitization and Medical Outreach continued yesterday, October 16th, 2025, at the Ughelli North Council Secretariat, marking the seventh phase of the ongoing health initiative across the eight Local Government Areas of Delta Central Senatorial District.
This flagship programme, implemented through a partnership between my office and the National Health Fellows, reinforces our unwavering commitment to promoting preventive healthcare, facilitating early detection of chronic conditions, and ensuring equitable access to quality medical services for residents at the grassroots.

I was represented at the event by my Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Justin Uloho, Ph.D, who reaffirmed my dedication to the health and well-being of every constituent of Delta Central.
We were honoured to have the Chairman of Ughelli North LGA, Olorogun Barr. Jaro Egbo, in attendance. He expressed strong support for the programme, commended its impact, and pledged the Council’s continued collaboration to strengthen community-based healthcare delivery. I deeply appreciate his partnership and steadfast commitment to improving the lives of our people.

The Executive Secretary of the Ughelli North Local Government Health Authority, Dr. Ighovo Tega, described the outreach as a life-saving intervention that continues to close healthcare gaps in rural and semi-urban areas across the district.
We are collaborating with development-focused partners, including the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), which supported the eye care segment of the outreach. A total of 112 reading eyeglasses were distributed to beneficiaries after screening. Medical reports from the outreach recorded 61 cases of hypertension and 13 new cases of diabetes, underscoring the urgent need for regular health checks and lifestyle awareness.
This initiative continues to reflect our shared vision of a healthier, stronger, and better-informed Delta Central.
